T.R. from AKON Delegation Visit to Abdullah Yasir Şahin, General Manager of the Mint and Stamp Printing House of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, President of the European Confederation of Science, Education, Health and Culture (AKON), Mr. Yasin Uluhan, Secretary General Canan Kaya and Innovation Coordinator Hasan Bayram, T.R. Ministry of Treasury and Finance paid a courtesy visit to the General Manager of the Mint and Stamp Printing House, Abdullah Yasir Şahin. Within the scope of the visit, General Manager Şahin gave information about the history of the Mint and its innovation-oriented work. Drawing attention to the deep-rooted history of the institution and its strategic role today, Şahin said: "The Mint was established in Istanbul in 1467 under the name of Darphane-i Âmire, during the reign of the Ottoman Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror. The Mint, which minted gold, silver and copper coins in the name of the Ottoman sultans for centuries, is also responsible for the production of medals, decorations and seals. With the proclamation of the Republic, it was affiliated to the Ministry of Finance in 1927." The Mint not only produces coins; Emphasizing that it also operates in secure printing products such as passports, official documents, gold certificates, commemorative coins and state badges, Şahin expressed the importance they attach to digitalization and innovation with the following words: "In cooperation with our Ministry, we continue to develop technological transformation projects that will add value to our country." AKON Innovation Center President Yasin Uluhan explained the vision of the center and the supports it offers as follows: "As AKON Innovation Center, we continue to strengthen the technology infrastructures by providing project support to public institutions and non-governmental organizations in Turkey. It is our priority to contribute to the development of our country with innovative and sustainable projects.” At the end of the visit, a plaque was presented to Mint General Manager Abdullah Yasir Şahin by AKON Innovation Center for his contributions to the cultural awareness of our country and his leadership in innovation and technology transformation investments.
