Prof. Dr. İbrahim Özkol is one of Turkey's leading academicians in the field of space and aviation technologies. He was born in Izmir in 1962. He completed his undergraduate and graduate studies in Aeronautical Engineering and his doctorate in Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering at Istanbul Technical University in 1985, 1988 and 1992, respectively. Özkol, who started his academic career as a Research Assistant at the same university in 1987, received the title of Associate Professor in 1996 and Professor in 2005. He is currently working as an academic at the Department of Aeronautical Engineering at Istanbul Technical University. Özkol was assigned to Spain by the Undersecretariat for Defense Industries in 1992-1993 and took part in the "CASA-3000" and "CN-235" aircraft production projects. He has worked as an executive and researcher in projects carried out with many national and international institutions such as TÜBİTAK, Boeing, ASELSAN, TAI, Turkish Airlines and STM. Özkol, who pioneered the establishment of important programs in the academic field, was the founder and coordinator of the Air Transport Management MBA Program in partnership with ITU-Boeing-Turkish Airlines and the Aircraft Structures and Materials MBA Program in partnership with ITU-TUSAŞ. He serves as the founding institute director of the ITU Aviation Institute, which was established in 2019. Özkol, who served as the Vice Rector of Istanbul Technical University between 2012 and 2018, is also the founder of the ITU Aviation and Space Technologies Application and Research Center, which was established in 2016, and currently serves as the center director. With the contribution of the studies carried out within this center, the university was deemed worthy of the YÖK International Cooperation Award in 2018. Özkol, who served as a board member, consultant and coordinator in many institutions such as the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, TUSAŞ, TÜBİTAK, Teknopark Istanbul and SAHA Istanbul, also served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors at ASELSAN between 2017-2018 and has served as an Independent Board Member since April 2018. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Özkol; He takes an active role in the scientific and technical evaluation processes of space technologies, aeronautical engineering, defense industry and advanced engineering projects, and plays an active role in project monitoring, academic compliance approval and audit processes in the Science Board of our innovation center.
