Prof. Dr. Mehmet Erikoğlu was born in Ermenek district of Karaman and completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Ermenek. After graduating from Ermenek High School in 1988, he was admitted to Selçuk University Faculty of Medicine in the same year and successfully completed his medical education in 1994.
After his graduation, he worked as a general practitioner at Karaman Central Health Center No. 2, and then he passed the TUS exam and started his specialty training at Ege University Faculty of Medicine, Department of General Surgery. He received the title of General Surgery Specialist in 2001 and continued his academic career at Selçuk University Faculty of Medicine (now Necmettin Erbakan University Meram Faculty of Medicine) and took on the responsibility of the Kidney Transplant Center.
In line with his academic and scientific studies, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor in 2008 and Professor on January 16, 2014. He held important administrative positions within the university, such as Deputy Chief Physician, Organ Transplantation Center Director and Deputy Student Coordinator.
In the Faculty Board elections held in November 2015, November 2018 and November 2021, he was elected as a Faculty Board Member as a Professor Representative three times in a row, by receiving the highest votes in the voting with the participation of more than 100 professors, and in 2023, he was elected as a Faculty Board Member.
Prof. has nearly 100 academic studies published in important national and international scientific journals. Dr. Mehmet Erikoğlu; He continues his active membership in important scientific organizations such as ESSR (European Society for Surgical Research), Turkish Surgical Association, Endocrine Surgery Association and Turkish Organ Transplantation Organizations Coordination Association.
In 2014, he was elected as the Turkey Representative of the European Society for Surgical Research (ESSR), and has taken on active roles in scientific committee memberships, session chairs and academic organizations at international congresses. At the same time, he took part in many national and international congresses as a speaker, organizing committee member and scientific session chairman, and won various academic awards.
Since the establishment of the kidney transplant center, it has successfully performed approximately 250 kidney transplant and organ donor operations. He left his position in charge of the Kidney Transplant Center, which he held for nearly 20 years, in 2021 and ended his active work in the field of organ transplantation.
In the following period, he continued his academic studies, especially in the field of Breast and Endocrine Surgery, within the Department of General Surgery at Necmettin Erbakan University Meram Medical Faculty; He served as a member of the Faculty Board and the Faculty Executive Board.
He left his duties at the university during the 2023 Parliamentary General Elections and participated in the İYİ Party Karaman Parliamentary candidacy process.
In the same period, he started accepting patients as a General Surgery Specialist in his private practice in Meram, Konya, and he still continues his professional work in his clinic at Meram Yeni Yol 39/2 Meram – Konya.
It takes an active role in the evaluation and guidance processes of scientific studies carried out within the scope of projects developed in surgical fields, and takes part in project monitoring, academic compliance approval and scientific audit processes within the Akon Innovation Center Scientific Board.
